About Lisa Elhyani, LCSW
When our expectations are not met, we worry about what should be, as opposed to working with what is. Life can be overwhelming, anxiety provoking, and demanding. I understand the challenges that are coupled with being an adult, parent, and in a relationship. My approach is non-pathologizing and interactive; I am passionate about helping individuals improve their quality of life and becoming the best versions of themselves. Through a collaborative psychotherapeutic process, I will help you learn concrete ways to improve your mental health and achieve your best self.
While I work with a multitude of issues, I specialize in couples counseling and helping individuals who struggle with anxiety and depression. I empower clients to meet their goals by identifying their unique strengths and mitigating their maladaptive thinking. Together, I can help you learn how to reconcile with the past and build the life that is best for you. I will assist you with gaining the tools and respectful space to attain insight and coping mechanisms, which will persevere past your time in therapy.
I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) through the Beck Institute, Complicated Grief Treatment (CGT) through Columbia University, Relational Life Therapy (RLT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
Licensed in New York and North Carolina.
